As we near completion of the build of The Flagship Education Centre and in honour of Auckland Anniversary Day on Monday 30 January, we’re celebrating on site with a day of live art, planter box building, food and music in the Wynyard Quarter.

As part of Auckland Transport’s Play Streets event, the uber-talented artist Erika Pearce will be painting murals to adorn our Education Centre. Following on from our super successful Working Bee in December last year, we’ll also be building planter boxes to complete our epic urban garden, part of our commitment to creating a Living Building that feeds our community.

Come along to our site on the corner of Madden and Beaumont Streets in Auckland’s Wynyard Quarter, anytime from 10am to 4pm on Monday 30 January. Check out the artwork as it progresses, meet our team and lend a helping hand to build our planter boxes.

Please note: there will be no parking in the Wynyard Quarter, as it is closed to cars and all parking fenced off, so please bike, walk, skate or take public transport to get there.

If you’d like to help us build planter boxes, please register through the quick form below to help with our planning. Bring a drill, or other good quality tools (like drop saws) with you.

Thanks to the fine folk from L’Authentique we’ll also be putting on a sausage sizzle from 11.30am — free for anyone who shares a photo tagging us @sustainablecoastlines and our artist @erikapearce.artist on Facebook or Instagram — with delicious free-range and gluten-free options.

This is a chance to put your skills to work, meet some fine folk and be part of an epic community project. You’ll also literally be able to enjoy the fruits of your labour, as the planter boxes we build will be open for anyone to enjoy.
