Thank You so much for coming to the Whitebait Connection / Love your Water Tree planting at the Balmoral Reserve!

What a great day. For the second year running we collaborated with the fantastic crew at Whitebait connection.
This year we had a local scout group, members of the public and students come out to help.  Around 45 volunteers planted more than 1000 native plants in the riparian zone – a HUGE thanks to Nicki Wakefield and the Whitebait Connection team for their organisation of the day.  Thanks also to Phoenix Organics who supplied us with drinks for the day.
We hope to keep partnering with Whitebait Connection in the future, and we’re really looking forward to being involved again next year!
Many thanks and stay in touch!
Oliver

As part of our 2016 Love your Water campaign we invite you to join us for a day of tree planting at the Balmoral Reserve on Saturday 3 September 2016. This will be the final planting in a restoration project of over 3km of waterway from the Whangarei Falls to the Balmoral Reserve, run by the Whitebait Connection Team, with support from the Waitaua Catchment Restoration Network, Northland Regional Council, Whangarei District Council, Foundation North and the Department of Conservation!

Simply meet by the bridge on the corner of Vinegar Hill Rd and Balmoral Rd, Tikipunga. There is parking on Balmoral Road and the planting will be signposted from there. We’ll be starting from 10.00am and finishing up around 4:00pm. You can stay for as little or as long as you like, but afterwards we’ll all come together for some scones and Phoenix Organics’ Drinks.

Volunteers, corporate groups and schools are all welcome to come along and get your hands dirty, give some love to previous plantings, and help the regeneration of this beautiful stream.
