Rotorua Tree Planting | Sustainable Coastlines

Event Details

Over the years our experienced team has delivered educational programs to over 100,000 people, motivated tens of thousands of volunteers to remove over a million litres of rubbish from the coast, and planted thousands of trees alongside our waterways. We are now working on building community capacity to address the quality of our waterways and we would love your help. From May to August this winter we are coordinating Love your Water — our nationwide Training Workshops and Tree Planting Tour — during which we will share our experience in public speaking and event planning, and learn from local groups along the way. We will be in the Bay of Plenty region from the 16th to the 22nd June 2014 and would love to have you involved hands on in a tree planting event on Friday 20th June at the mouth of the Utuhina River. Read below for more details.

On Friday 20th June, we need your help to give love back to the waters of the Utuhina River, Rotorua. With the support of the Ohinemutu Community, Te Roro o Te Rangi, Rotorua Primary School, RYEF, BOPRC, RDC and the Te Arawa Lakes Trust we will be planting trees — lovingly raised by local nurseries — at the mouth of the Utuhina River. This stunning spot has public access so that you, your children and their children will be able to admire your handiwork for years to come. We need volunteers anytime from 10.00am to 2.00pm on Friday the 20th to help plant the trees.  Bring along a spade and make sure you wear shoes or gumboots that you don’t mind getting muddy!
