With the help of 24 local volunteers, we gave the love back to the waters of the Waitaua River, Whangarei.

We joined The Whitebait Connection who have been working tirelessly with local schools in the area and the council – having already planted and fenced a stretch of public riparian strip in the bid to help restore the mauri of this awa.

On Sunday, 15 June we planted 1000 native seedlings to do our part to help the restoration efforts around the Balmoral Reserve that borders the Waitaua River. The site in Northland flows down into the iconic Whangarei Falls and it has been the subject of water pollution scrutiny for some time now – with E. Coli levels often above recommended bathing standards.
