KEEN to raise critical funds for our work

Keen Meridian

Sustainable Coastlines is proud to announce that we have teamed-up with outdoor footwear brand KEEN, who have just joined our ranks as a Gold Sponsor. This new sponsorship will help to raise critical funds for our work through creative, win-win fundraising opportunities for their customers and our supporters. And of course it means our hardworking core crew are kitted out well for our rugged outdoor activities – an important step in ensuring our team stays safe while at work.

To kick-off their fundraising efforts, KEEN has partnered with their beloved retailer Hikoi, with stores in Cambridge, New Plymouth, Taupo, and Maunganui, to activate a “Give-With-Purchase” programme for our cause. From 15 November to 15 December this year, every KEEN purchase at Hikoi stores not only scores discounts on other footwear, but also directs $10 to our work keeping our beaches and waterways clean.

But KEEN doesn’t simply stick to outdoor footwear. They, like us, work to inspire responsible outdoor participation. KEEN’s approach to corporate social responsibility places special emphasis on sustainable product development, strategic sourcing options, impactful community outreach and a progressive work environment. The company honours its employees’ commitment to volunteerism, supports its local community, and embraces corporate responsibility. In other words, KEEN really cares, and we are honoured to have them on board.

Through its Hybrid.Care giving program, KEEN supports social and environmental organisations around the world, distributing US$6 million in grants since 2004. Each year this program supports over 200 organisations with product for fundraisers, introduces more than 35,000 children to new outdoor experiences, and in 2011 alone, it helped protect 1.5 Million acres of land for recreation. In the very recent aftermath of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines, KEEN extended its support to the victims of this tragic disaster by donating 30,000 pairs of quality shoes from Portland through a Hybrid.Care partner, Mercy Corp.

Our ongoing efforts on coastal clean-ups, riparian planting and public awareness constantly aim to inspire participation in, and protection of, the outdoors. As fellow lovers of our great outdoors we can’t wait to actively work with KEEN to keep our coastlines clean.

Our partnership with KEEN provides a fine example of one of the myriad ways that caring companies can support our cause. We are always interesting in hearing from anyone who shares our passion for our coastlines and keeping them the way they should be: litter-free. Let’s talk.
