On Wednesday the 15th of April 2009, we were sitting in a small photocopy room contemplating how to carry on the momentum from our huge launch event, the Aotea/Great Barrier Island Coastal Clean-up. That day our certificate of registration with the Charities Commission arrived, Sustainable Coastlines was born, and we kicked-off a long-term commitment to look after our coasts.
Since then our small but growing team has worked hard to deliver educational programs to nearly 100,000 people, motivated volunteers to remove over a million litres of rubbish from the coast and planted thousands of trees alongside our waterways. But even more importantly, 34,297 of you have joined us.
It hasn’t always been easy, there has been blood, sweat and tears along the way, but today we stand proud of what we have achieved and want to thank you for your support.
