The funding would be spent on chartering ferries and/or on event logistical costs so we can get more students to our events and reach more people with our educational messaging. By doing so we can teach a greater number of young people about protecting the coastlines that we all love.
In the past two and a half years volunteers at our events have removed nearly 700,000 litres of rubbish from New Zealand coastlines, and we have delivered educational presentations to over 17,500 school students around the country about the challenges of marine debris and coastline protection.
After the resounding success of last year’s coastal clean-up where 1,200 people removed over 201,000 pieces of rubbish from the uninhabited Rangitoto Island, we are again taking 1,000 students and volunteers to the island for another massive community event on Tuesday 6 December, 2011. We would love your support to make this happen, and voting for us through the Localist Karma Fund is one simple thing you can do to help. Thank you in advance for your votes, your support is much appreciated.
