“BIRDS EYE VIEW” is an art exhibition by Pia.  It is a cash and carry show –  all original art works only $75 each that you can pop in your bag and take home on the night. 

Pia has collected vintage paper maps of Aotearoa, sourced from friends, op shops and tip shops are re-purposed into 50 original art works. Bush and sea birds endemic to Aotearoa are carefully hand  painted over top of the maps, creating a unique and original art work.

Maps are used to describe and record ownership, showing culture and features relating to land use and value. Her birds are unaware of these man made pressures and ideas, they continue to wing their way across the skies, following migratory paths and returning to breeding grounds they have used for thousands of years.

Ninety three of our bird species are found in no other country, we must look after them.
