Event Cancelled!

Thanks for your interest in attending! As you’ll be aware, due to the current Covid-19 restrictions placed on Auckland, our staff cannot travel to Christchurch, meaning this planting is cancelled. If you’ve already registered, we’ll send you an email to update you we have cancelled the planting. We’ll also update our events page and social channels with new announcements.

 

We need nature and nature needs us, so we’re looking forward to seeing you at our next event!

Remember to bring:

  • Sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you don’t mind getting a bit muddy. This is critical for Health & Safety considerations.
  • Warm and waterproof clothes. At least one warm top layer and a rain jacket.
  • Sun hat and sunscreen.
  • Reusable water bottle (filled up and ready to go)
  • Bring a camera (optional). We would love to see your event photos! Use the tag #loveyourwater and @sustainablecoastlines on social media

With support from ANZ and in collaboration with Environment Canterbury, we are hosting a native tree planting event as part of our ANZ Love Your Water Tour 2021, alongside the Waimakariri River. We would love for you to join us!

Sustainable Coastlines has been planting alongside Waimakariri te awa since 2017! To date, we have planted 25,500 native trees as a direct action to improve the mauri of Waimakariri te awa. Get involved to give this awa some much-needed aroha!

How to get there:
Head to 590 Coutts Island Road, Christchurch 7670 which you will find off Dickey’s Road. Look out for the blue and white Sustainable Coastlines flags and friendly helpers in high-vis gear.

We are putting on a bus for any volunteers requiring assistance with transport, please email [email protected] to book a spot!

What does the day involve?
9:45 am – Registration opens at Coutts Island Road – Whites Crossing West Picnic Area, Tea and coffee served.
10:00 am – Opening words from Sustainable Coastlines and Stakeholders.
10:10 am – Safety briefing and planting demonstration.
12:30 pm – Return to home base for lunch and group photo.
13:00 – Safety briefing and planting demonstration for new volunteers who’ve just arrived.
