15:15-16:15 Litter Survey
16:15-16:30 Return to Hall
16:30-17:30 Litter Audit

Sunset is at 17:04pm
*Please note 30 minutes have been added to total time to account for travel between the hall & beach.

What to bring?

  • Raincoat / waterproof jacket
  • Sturdy shoes
  • A smart mobile phone with full battery (if you have one)
  • We will provide all other equipment required to run the litter survey and audit

Are you interested in taking action against ocean pollution? Sustainable Coastlines is hosting a training workshop to deliver a project to create a grassroots solutions to litter in Aotearoa with a new project to survey & audit beaches.

Backed by the Ministry for the Environment, and working alongside Department of Conservation and Statistics New Zealand, Sustainable Coastlines is helping community groups set up monitoring sites around the country to prove the litter problem and help to prioritise solutions. 

The free workshop will pass on the skills in surveying, data collection, and Health & Safety that will allow attendees to play an important part in this long-term effort to contribute data to New Zealand’s first national beach litter database.
