POSTPONED: Porirua Tree Planting – ANZ LYW Tour 2021 | Sustainable Coastlines

Covid safety at our events

Thanks for your interest in attending! As you’ll be aware, due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, no public events can take place, so this event has been postponed until further notice. If you’ve already registered, we’ll send you an email to update you once we have a new date or if we have to cancel the planting. We’ll also update our events page and social channels with new announcements.

We need nature and nature needs us, so we’re looking forward to seeing you at our next planting event and getting those seedlings into the ground!

As part of our amazing collaboration with ANZ and Porirua City Council, we would like to invite you to join us on Saturday the 21st of August for a community planting day at Papakowhai Reserve.

Please let us know if you’d like free transport to the planting site from Wellington township.

Urban and rural development in the Te Awarua-o-Porirua Harbour catchment over the past 150 years has had a big impact on the health of this estuarine system. We are working closely with other collaborators to restore the mauri of this catchment, and need your help to do so!

How to get there: Head to Papakowhai Road next to Papakowhai Reserve to park – and we’ll meet from 9.15 am; look out for the Sustainable Coastlines flags and friendly helpers in high-vis gear.

We’ll be starting from 09.30 am and finishing up around 13.00 pm. You can stay for as little or as long as you like, but around noon we’ll all come together for some tasty food and some Phoenix Organics Drinks.

What does the day involve?
9:15 am – Registration opens at Papakowhai Reserve, Tea and coffee served.
9:30 am – Karakia and opening speeches.
9:40 am – Safety briefing and planting demonstration.
9:45 am – Commence planting
12:00 pm – Return to home base for a photo and lunch.
13:00pm(ish) – Event finishes
