Remember to bring:

  • Closed-toed shoes
  • Sun-smart gear
  • Raincoats and appropriate clothing for the day on the coast
  • Reusable drink bottle, filled and ready to go
  • Camera!

We will provide: 

  • All relevant gear: gloves, sacks
  • Health and Safety documentation & briefing
  • First aid trained staff and first aid kits
  • Sunscreen
  • Hand sanitiser
  • Rubbish removal to transfer station.

We have had a heartwarming but overwhelming amount of people sign up for this cleanup. We are now at capacity but please keep an eye out for other Sustainable Coastlines beach cleanups in your area.

We will be working with local community groups to have the biggest possible impact on cleaning up the rubbish around the South Coast.

Everything will be provided including health and safety documents, equipment and refreshments.

Timing 

  • 10:30 am – Sign in at Shorland Park – Reef Street, Island Bay, Wellington
  • 10:45 am – Health and Safety Brief and handing out clean up equipment
  • 11:00 am – Clean-up commences
  • 1:00 pm – Return all rubbish back to Reef Street, Island Bay, Wellington and  grab a snack and some refreshments
  • 1:15 pm – Beach clean up ends

Covid safety at our events

  1. If you, or anyone you live with feels ill, please do not attend.
  2. All attendees should follow cough and sneeze etiquette: Cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue (dispose of tissue immediately).
  3. Bring gloves to the event if you have them available at home. Although we will have freshly washed gloves for those who need.
  4. Please bring your own face mask.
  5. Wash and sanitise your hands regularly.
  6. Social distancing of 2m must be adhered to for those outside your bubble.
  7. The event may be cancelled at late notice due to the unfolding situation.
