Sustainable Coastlines invites you to an event to showcase, celebrate, and develop innovation that will reduce construction and demolitionwaste entering the ocean.
Alongside Stormwater 360, Hirepool, and Auckland Council, we welcome you to the Flagship Education Centre (which itself was made from 85% salvaged material) to learn about practical solutions for waste reduction and participate in developing a strategy to tackle the issue.
About the event
Construction and demolitionwaste makes up 40–50% of our waste to landfill. Inevitably, the sector also impacts the marine environment with waste and other pollutants. It’s a big problem, which means that effective solutions have the potential to drastically improve our environment.
This is now a priority for many municipal authorities and the government in distributing the Waste Minimisation Fund.
There are significant opportunities in collaborations that focus on reducing the creation of construction and demolitionwaste, diverting it from landfill, and preventing its escape into the environment.
We intend to kick off some of these discussions and collaborations with a showcase of our recent pilot project carried out in Flat Bush alongside Auckland Council and Stormwater 360.
This solution is one that can be readily implemented by the sector, and is backed up by data that not only shows the efficacy of the solution, but has potential for policy making, marketing, sustainability reporting, and influencing resource consent decisions.
We will also host an open-floor discussion to work towards real, practical solutions that can go to scale at pace.
Your old mobile phone. We can recycle it as part of the RE:mobile programme, with proceeds coming to us!
