Join us on Tuesday 19th November, 3.30pm – 5.30pm at Ōtaki Beach for a Litter Intelligence litter survey & beach clean-up.  Litter Intelligence is Aotearoa’s national litter monitoring programme, enabling communities to collect data, gain insights and influence action for a world without litter. Look for our flag at the Ōtaki Surf Lifesaving Club carpark, just off Marine Parade.

A perfect afterschool activity to do with the kids, we’ll guide you through removing all the litter in a designated area of the beach, categorising it, measuring it, and recording it in the database. Kind partners of ours have pledged to match all donations received until the end of Plastic Free July, 18–31 July. Simply make a donation on our website during this time, and our partners will automatically double it, up to a total of $7,500!

$15k for long-term solutions to plastic pollution

To date, Sustainable Coastlines citizen scientists have completed almost 2,500 Litter Intelligence surveys. Each survey contributes invaluable data, which leads to insights and action for a world without litter.

Litter Intelligence data is powerful. It’s used in government reporting and it helped to inform bans on problem plastics. But our charity needs to meet the costs of collecting this data. Help our team continue to provide the support needed to ensure this impactful activity can flourish.
