Another month, another awesome clean-up on Petone Beach!

Join us on Petone Beach from 2pm until 4.30pm on Sunday, April 26 to protect our beautiful coastlines, thanks to our friends at Hutt City Council. We’ll meet at Honiana Te Puni Reserve, Petone Beach, near the Waterski Club — just look for our flags.

This is a free, weekend event, so don’t be shy — grab your whānau and mates and give back to our beautiful moana.

Litter Intelligence survey

Alongside the clean-up we will also be conducting a Litter Intelligence survey, collecting litter data to inform action for a world without litter. There will be an opportunity to get involved on the day if you’re keen to experience citizen science — all ages welcome.

Join us on Saturday 28 March — during EcoFest — for a community beach clean-up with two locations to choose from: Point Chevalier Beach and just along the coast at Eric Armishaw Park.

We encourage you to make use of the wonderful new cycleways in the area to make your way to the sites. Consider picking up any litter you see on your way here!

This event is also a showcase of the litter data collection work done by local schools on the connection between our waterways and the ocean, celebrating student contributions and sharing data-driven insights with families and the wider community.

Made possible thanks to the Albert-Eden Local Board.

Site selection

Point Chevalier
We’ll be cleaning up the beach and Coyle Park. Mostly very easy, family-friendly terrain. This is also where our schools showcase will be held — make sure you check it out.

Eric Armishaw Park
There’s likely more litter to be found here, with options to venture into the mangroves, the park, or head along the walkway to clean up the beaches there. Make sure you make the quick trip up the road to Coyle Park afterwards for our community showcase — and treats!
