Safety at The Flagship

  • Please be aware of your surroundings at all times. There are a number of tripping hazards present, such as the uneven floor. Please only walk, do not run. We recommend wearing closed toed shoes.
  • Be very careful on the stairs and ramps. If it’s raining, these areas will be slippery and dangerous.
  • Do not loiter in the carpark or near the road. We don’t want you to get hit by a car.
  • If you need to go on the outside of the building to get to the toilet, please stay inside the painted pedestrian strip on the carpark side of the building.
  • If you’re carrying things around or helping set up, please be aware of your own capabilities and do not overwork yourself. Ask for help when you need it.
  • If you are serving alcohol, please ensure you drink responsibly. Intoxicated guests will not be served and may be removed from the building. For public events where alcohol is being served, a sober, licensed manager and security person will be present.
  • If any glassware breaks during the event, please use gloves and a dustpan to clear this up immediately.
  • Smoking is not permitted anywhere on site. DIrect smokers to Beaumont Street where there are bins for butts.

  • If you’re carrying things around or helping set up, please be aware of your own capabilities and do not overwork yourself.
  • If you are using a ladder, please place this in the safest location possible, avoiding any hazards such as entrance/exit points, uneven flooring and pedestrian/vehicle traffic. Maintain three points of contact at all times. This means only using one-handed tools. Do not use the ladder in windy conditions.
  • Do not go up a ladder without a safety person stabilising the base of the ladder.
  • Never overextend whist on a ladder. Stay within your own working limits.
  • Do not walk or work underneath someone working on a ladder.

This will include safety concerns, areas not to hold and areas that are safe to hold. Always lift with bent knees and a straight back.
