Ten thousand hours! That’s the total time citizen scientists have spent collecting data for Litter Intelligence. For perspective, that’s equivalent to 4.8 people working full time for a full year. A massive thank you from us for spending your time and energy to assemble Aotearoa’s very first litter database, a project that belongs to all of us. You should be proud!

We hope everyone knows Aotearoa's little songbird, pīwakawaka / fantail. Did you know that pīwakawaka chicks are fed every 10 minutes — almost 100 times a day! Pīwakawaka like to hang out with humans as our walking disturbs insects, making it easier for the pīwakawaka to catch. We also like to think it’s because they love us back… maybe?

Here’s hoping our upcoming planting season will eventually provide a thriving habitat for these little guys.

This Saturday! We’re helping out at the Te Puhinui Big Clean river clean-up and would love to see you there. Register through the link in our bio and meet us at 8.30am at Auckland Botanic Gardens.

Organised by our friends at the Beautification Trust, this event will help create awareness for the taonga in our backyard, and to collectively contribute to the health of our awa. There will be a sausage sizzle and fun activities to thank the volunteers after the event! 💙
